The conformal coatings used by electronics manufacturers contain a UV indicator for inspection. Because the coating is transparent, the unit must be viewed under black light to verify covered and uncovered areas. The Nordson Test & Inspection FX-940UV uses proprietary inspection algorithms to automatically inspect coating quality and consistency under UV light, making conformal-coating inspection simple and convenient.

With minimal programming, inspection setup is fast and intuitive — typically under 30 minutes. A known good board is used to teach covered and uncovered areas. Automated inspection usually takes only a few seconds, and results are displayed immediately. Results can be stored offline and viewed at any time. The FX-940UV can also read all common barcodes for product traceability.
